  • 0:00 | this is the brand new GoPro Hero 13
  • 0:02 | black and I’ve been putting it through
  • 0:03 | its Paces over the last little while
  • 0:05 | across a wide range of activities to
  • 0:07 | figure out where it works really well
  • 0:09 | and where it still Falls a little bit
  • 0:11 | short because in many ways it’s as if
  • 0:13 | GoPro looked at the entire like GoPro
  • 0:15 | video photo kind of geekery crowd like
  • 0:17 | myself and said hold my beer there is a
  • 0:20 | lot of really fascinating features here
  • 0:22 | and arguably I would say even one of the
  • 0:24 | biggest changes in the GoPro lineup in
  • 0:26 | many many years and of course as always
  • 0:28 | this video is not sponsored I’m going to
  • 0:30 | how it like it is both the good and as I
  • 0:31 | mentioned the things that frankly still
  • 0:33 | suck so with that number one is the
  • 0:35 | price the price remains 399 bucks the
  • 0:37 | same as it was in the past there is
  • 0:39 | however a new $199 camera the GoPro Hero
  • 0:42 | a refresh version of that I’ll have a
  • 0:44 | separate viiew on that down the road
  • 0:46 | it’s not quite like available yet so
  • 0:47 | I’ve got my notes here cuz we got a lot
  • 0:49 | to go through let’s get to the first
  • 0:50 | technical like win if you will based on
  • 0:52 | everyone complaining last year GoPro
  • 0:54 | brought back GPS into the hero 13 black
  • 0:57 | you remember last year with the hero 12
  • 0:59 | they took it out in about the exact same
  • 1:01 | time DJI in 360 put in like secondary
  • 1:04 | remote controls accessories that you
  • 1:05 | could buy uh now it’s back built into
  • 1:07 | the camera versus those ones have
  • 1:09 | accessories the idea behind GPS that you
  • 1:11 | can do overlays of data onto your videos
  • 1:13 | and see how fast you’re going and stuff
  • 1:14 | like that and it works fine that said I
  • 1:17 | would argue insta 360s implementation
  • 1:19 | where they can pull data from a Garmin
  • 1:20 | watch or an Apple Watch natively
  • 1:22 | straight into that including like
  • 1:24 | cycling power and running metrics and
  • 1:25 | all that kind of stuff is the direction
  • 1:27 | I really want to see GoPro go but at the
  • 1:29 | same time it’s cool you don’t have to
  • 1:30 | buy an accessory cuz it’s built right
  • 1:32 | into the camera now let’s talk about
  • 1:34 | those accessories cuz those are the
  • 1:36 | headline feature of the hero 13 black
  • 1:39 | and it is I’ll give them credit it’s
  • 1:40 | pretty cool I’m not usually like a big
  • 1:42 | accessory dude but this is cool so
  • 1:44 | basically there’s a whole bunch of new
  • 1:45 | accessories called their HB series
  • 1:47 | accessories these are accessories lenses
  • 1:49 | that basically pop on the front kind of
  • 1:51 | an extension of their mod series they’ve
  • 1:53 | had for a while like they’ve had their
  • 1:54 | lens mod and the display mod and other
  • 1:57 | mods same concept here but they snap on
  • 1:59 | the front and the key difference between
  • 2:01 | This and like the previous lens mod is
  • 2:03 | there smarts there or basically
  • 2:05 | recognition that when that lens is
  • 2:06 | snapped on the front the GoPro knows
  • 2:08 | exactly which lens is on there and
  • 2:10 | adjust settings accordingly so the very
  • 2:12 | first notable lens is the macro lens uh
  • 2:14 | in this I’ve been getting some amazing
  • 2:16 | shots and I’m not a super creative
  • 2:18 | person in the grand scheme of things and
  • 2:19 | as you can see with some of these shots
  • 2:21 | it’s really a blend of stupidity like
  • 2:22 | putting it that close to my bike rear
  • 2:24 | derailer as I’m cruising along at speed
  • 2:27 | as well as just like hoping it works out
  • 2:28 | this new macro lens Focus down to 4 in
  • 2:31 | away from the object or 11 cm in fact it
  • 2:33 | actually has a focusing ring on it so
  • 2:35 | you can adjust that manually to go ahead
  • 2:37 | and get the exact Focus that you want
  • 2:38 | okay just a really simple example you
  • 2:40 | can see the macro lens to detect the top
  • 2:42 | there I’ve got the macro up here and
  • 2:43 | right now I’ve got it all the way to the
  • 2:44 | flower there and if you look at the
  • 2:46 | display what you’ll notice here in the
  • 2:48 | back uh might tap it open so it doesn’t
  • 2:50 | go to sleep there is that there’s
  • 2:51 | basically pink on the edges right there
  • 2:52 | meaning that’s in Focus as I rotate it
  • 2:54 | this way you’ll see now there’s pink on
  • 2:56 | the back of the boat with the deck
  • 2:57 | indicating that’s in Focus I can just
  • 2:59 | simply rotate it back again the only
  • 3:01 | thing I don’t like though is I wish
  • 3:02 | there was a little marker there so I can
  • 3:03 | see very clearly where I am on this ring
  • 3:06 | when I just look down at a glance from
  • 3:07 | kind of far away but I can solve that
  • 3:09 | with some white out so the next lens in
  • 3:11 | the HB series is essentially a revamped
  • 3:13 | Max lens mod except now it’s called the
  • 3:15 | ultra wide lens mod and of course
  • 3:16 | physically speaking it’s nearly
  • 3:18 | identical it still has 177° field of
  • 3:20 | view so it’s got that Ultra wide view
  • 3:22 | but it’s got three new modes in it uh
  • 3:24 | the first one is a new one by one
  • 3:26 | shooting mode one by one shooting modes
  • 3:28 | aren’t really new in the action cam
  • 3:29 | World other companies been doing it for
  • 3:31 | a long time it’s good to see GoPro join
  • 3:33 | in on this so this is the example of the
  • 3:35 | uncropped 1 by one aspect ratio but I
  • 3:37 | can crop that into something like the
  • 3:38 | 16×9 more of a horizontal layout or you
  • 3:41 | can go to Vertical like this for
  • 3:42 | Instagram or Tik Tok Etc or I can go
  • 3:45 | back again to the uncropped 1 by one and
  • 3:47 | just simply crop it however I see fit or
  • 3:49 | just use that as is here’s just a a
  • 3:51 | picture from GoPro showing how you can
  • 3:52 | then reframe that one by one into
  • 3:54 | horizontal and vertical and any which
  • 3:56 | way you want but they have two new modes
  • 3:58 | as well with the ultra lens mod the
  • 4:00 | first one is ultra superview and the
  • 4:02 | second one is ultra hyperview here’s the
  • 4:04 | same little section I did one after
  • 4:05 | another showing the difference there and
  • 4:07 | the core difference between them is how
  • 4:09 | GoPro stretches that image as always
  • 4:11 | with hyperview that wider one it’s going
  • 4:13 | to depend on what shot you want some
  • 4:15 | shots look great that way and some shots
  • 4:16 | just frankly suck that way but of course
  • 4:18 | that’s like the cool part of Photography
  • 4:20 | is finding out where things work and
  • 4:21 | where things don’t and then nailing it
  • 4:23 | now both of those two modes also work
  • 4:25 | with the existing Max lens mod on the
  • 4:27 | GoPro Hero 13 black in fact all of the
  • 4:30 | existing mods if you had a hero 12 or 11
  • 4:32 | mod they still work with the hero 13
  • 4:34 | just fine and dandy uh the only
  • 4:36 | difference though is it’s not going to
  • 4:37 | automatically recognize that lens when
  • 4:39 | you snap it on speaking of which let me
  • 4:40 | just show you how that works to put that
  • 4:42 | lens on you see the little blue circle
  • 4:44 | there you just align the circles you
  • 4:45 | snap it on it’s really that
  • 4:47 | straightforward and then instantly on
  • 4:48 | the camera it says yo here’s the exact
  • 4:50 | lens that you put on there but it gets
  • 4:52 | even more interesting with the new ND
  • 4:53 | filter set now if you know me in my
  • 4:55 | reviews whether it’s drone reviews and
  • 4:57 | action camera reviews my general here on
  • 5:00 | ND filters is they make most people’s
  • 5:02 | videos worse because they’re really
  • 5:04 | complex to get just right if you know
  • 5:06 | what you’re doing and you really know
  • 5:07 | what you’re doing then yes they can be
  • 5:08 | amazing the vast majority of people they
  • 5:11 | just screw it up this seems to solve
  • 5:13 | that because of the fact that the camera
  • 5:15 | knows exactly which ND filter it puts on
  • 5:17 | there uh once it snaps on it’ll
  • 5:19 | automatically look at the light and tell
  • 5:20 | you whether or not that ND filter is
  • 5:22 | appropriate or not and whether or not to
  • 5:23 | change it for a higher or lower density
  • 5:25 | filter that’s super cool now the whole
  • 5:28 | point of ND filters in this context is
  • 5:30 | mostly introducing motion blur rather
  • 5:32 | than anything else and again it tells
  • 5:34 | you how to do that obviously people use
  • 5:35 | ND filters for a wide variety of things
  • 5:37 | but in this context it’s introducing
  • 5:39 | that motion blur and in fact there’s
  • 5:40 | actually an automatic tuning setting for
  • 5:42 | exactly this and you can change which
  • 5:44 | settings you want the last of the new H
  • 5:46 | series lens is a new anamorphic lens now
  • 5:48 | fortunately this one is not available
  • 5:50 | now it’s available sometime in 2025
  • 5:52 | which seems like a pretty broad range to
  • 5:54 | me um but it looks cool but of course
  • 5:57 | the idea behind an anamorphic lens is
  • 5:58 | really to go ahead and give that
  • 5:59 | cinematic look to it and doesn’t that in
  • 6:01 | a couple different ways one is it
  • 6:02 | introduces those lens flatters and then
  • 6:04 | through the lens itself it’s essentially
  • 6:06 | stretching the image on to two different
  • 6:07 | resolutions again I haven’t touched this
  • 6:09 | lens nobody has it’s not coming till
  • 6:11 | sometime next year um but the price does
  • 6:13 | seem reasonable if you know the prices
  • 6:15 | of anamorphic lenses like the pro suumer
  • 6:17 | versions of anamorphic lenses anyways
  • 6:18 | this is actually a pretty reasonable
  • 6:20 | deal now let’s talk about something
  • 6:21 | that’s not an accessory based thing
  • 6:23 | something that just comes in the camera
  • 6:24 | which is three new slow-mo modes but in
  • 6:26 | particular three new burst slow-mo modes
  • 6:29 | so the these are basically offered three
  • 6:30 | different resolutions in different
  • 6:32 | durations think of them very similar to
  • 6:34 | a burst photo except they’re full
  • 6:35 | resolution videos and then they had
  • 6:37 | different frame rates assigned to them
  • 6:39 | this allows you get up to 120 frames per
  • 6:40 | second in 5.3k which in the past it was
  • 6:43 | limited to 4K there all be for only 5
  • 6:46 | seconds but keep in mind you can blend
  • 6:47 | that with a timer on this like a 3 or
  • 6:49 | 10sec timer as well as voice command so
  • 6:52 | when you’re ready to do the epic thing
  • 6:54 | you just tell your GoPro that you’re
  • 6:55 | ready to do that and then you have a
  • 6:56 | timer or don’t and then you do that and
  • 6:58 | 5 Seconds you know would have loved more
  • 7:00 | time than that but yeah it works for
  • 7:02 | most of the things I wanted if you do
  • 7:04 | want more time you can step down the
  • 7:05 | resolution though to one of the other
  • 7:07 | two options and then get even more
  • 7:08 | frames per second uh but again you have
  • 7:11 | lower resolution and again like I said
  • 7:12 | earlier I don’t have a ton of creativity
  • 7:14 | internally so um I’m just giving you
  • 7:16 | cannibal that’s that’s all I got folks
  • 7:18 | wondering whether or not there’s a
  • 7:19 | different chipset in there or something
  • 7:21 | like that gopress says you’re using the
  • 7:23 | same gp2 chipset they’ve had for a few
  • 7:25 | years now and the same camera sensor and
  • 7:27 | all that kind of stuff which then some
  • 7:28 | of you photo Geeks and whatnot like
  • 7:30 | myself would be like well when do we get
  • 7:32 | a new sensor when do we get a bigger
  • 7:33 | sensor and things like that and we don’t
  • 7:35 | know the answer to that yet but I would
  • 7:36 | remind you of one thing that I mentioned
  • 7:38 | in all my action camera reviews which is
  • 7:40 | that sensor size is only one small piece
  • 7:42 | of the entire Imaging pipeline puzzle
  • 7:45 | we’ve seen this time after time whether
  • 7:47 | we have onein sensors or small sensors
  • 7:49 | what matters far more in an action
  • 7:51 | camera is all the other pieces there
  • 7:52 | from video stabilization to the
  • 7:54 | processing Etc you can have a really big
  • 7:56 | sensor but crap stabilization and
  • 7:58 | everything else and it’s better to have
  • 7:59 | a smaller sensor with better
  • 8:01 | stabilization so I’ve included some
  • 8:02 | different kind of samples side by side
  • 8:03 | of different cameras doing different
  • 8:05 | things to show you what that looks like
  • 8:06 | in again different lighting conditions
  • 8:08 | uh in night is probably where you notice
  • 8:10 | the biggest difference between the GoPro
  • 8:11 | and its smaller sensor size compared to
  • 8:13 | the insta 360 Ace Pro as well as a DJI
  • 8:16 | action 4 however last year I did entire
  • 8:18 | night comparison comparing the DJI
  • 8:20 | action 4 with the uh hero 12 black at
  • 8:22 | night basically showing side by side the
  • 8:24 | differences there a lot of people like
  • 8:25 | myself certainly like The Brighter Image
  • 8:27 | of the DJI action 4 yeah a lot of other
  • 8:30 | people also like myself found colors
  • 8:32 | more true in the GoPro side and that’s
  • 8:34 | all honestly the same here because those
  • 8:36 | things haven’t really change any but at
  • 8:38 | the same time my phone would beat both
  • 8:40 | of those so yeah do what you want there
  • 8:42 | now next up GoPro is a new mounting
  • 8:44 | design that essentially like steals the
  • 8:46 | best parts of everyone else’s mounting
  • 8:48 | design now the good news first off to
  • 8:50 | begin with is you still have the
  • 8:51 | mounting fingers standard GoPro Mount
  • 8:53 | like you’ve always had this is still the
  • 8:54 | recommend amount if you’re doing
  • 8:56 | highspeed High vibration activities like
  • 8:58 | attaching it outside of a plane or
  • 9:00 | outside of a a car or motorcycle with
  • 9:02 | vibrations and things like that then the
  • 9:03 | next piece is you got the tripod mount
  • 9:05 | in the middle there a quarter 20 tripod
  • 9:07 | mount however if you put the two flat
  • 9:09 | like this just like that and you have
  • 9:10 | the new GoPro magnetic Mount you can
  • 9:12 | simply snap it in place like this as
  • 9:14 | well as unclip it like this and some of
  • 9:16 | you are like ah DJI had that for a
  • 9:18 | couple years and so did in 360 and that
  • 9:20 | is true except one core difference uh in
  • 9:22 | the case of both of those cameras it
  • 9:24 | only would allow orientation one way if
  • 9:26 | you wouldn’t to turn it this way it
  • 9:28 | wouldn’t work and on a thing like this
  • 9:30 | it doesn’t really matter because it’s
  • 9:32 | small and you can turn around but if you
  • 9:33 | have various mounts on vehicles and
  • 9:35 | stuff like that it’s kind of a pain in
  • 9:36 | the butt now of course there is one more
  • 9:38 | downside here this does increase what is
  • 9:40 | effectively the stack height making it
  • 9:41 | higher up which is why you can still
  • 9:43 | again use those mounting fingers that
  • 9:45 | said if you have a hero 12 there is a
  • 9:47 | Mount I’ve been using for like a year
  • 9:48 | now since last year I think it’s by
  • 9:50 | lonzi and falam uh and that mount is
  • 9:53 | essentially this exact thing in fact
  • 9:54 | it’s so identical that I went to GoPro
  • 9:56 | and I’m like are you partnering with
  • 9:58 | them because this look awfully like
  • 10:00 | pretty much identical to theirs and they
  • 10:02 | said no it’s their own IP
  • 10:04 | internally okay GoPro if you say
  • 10:08 | so now you may have been noticing
  • 10:10 | something on the side of my GoPro here
  • 10:12 | which are these eight little dots uh for
  • 10:14 | charging now this is a separate
  • 10:16 | accessory door so this is not the stock
  • 10:17 | door here’s a picture of the stock door
  • 10:19 | this is a separate accessory door it
  • 10:21 | allows you to charge the GoPro
  • 10:22 | externally forever as long as you want
  • 10:24 | and this housing door is fully
  • 10:25 | waterproof so if you take it to the
  • 10:27 | beach or something like that you don’t
  • 10:28 | have to worry about killing your goer
  • 10:30 | afterwards I’ve been loving the charging
  • 10:31 | cable primarily for long runtime stuff
  • 10:33 | like doing uh some of the night star
  • 10:35 | stuff there where you just want to leave
  • 10:36 | the camera out all night long uh
  • 10:38 | connected to a USB battery pack and you
  • 10:40 | don’t have to worry about it like it’s
  • 10:41 | it’s awesome now of course by now some
  • 10:43 | of you are wondering with all these cool
  • 10:44 | changes does it break compatibility with
  • 10:46 | existing accessories and the answer is
  • 10:48 | no everything across the board is
  • 10:50 | compatible so for example I went diving
  • 10:52 | right here I took the hero 13 put in the
  • 10:54 | hero 12 case and it’s perfectly fine and
  • 10:57 | the reason is the exterior shell of this
  • 10:59 | is identical to the past so it’s totally
  • 11:01 | compatible across the board if you want
  • 11:03 | to put existing lenses on this that
  • 11:05 | works fine there’s no problems with any
  • 11:06 | of that that also goes for the medium
  • 11:08 | mod the display mod the little light mod
  • 11:09 | on top all that stuff is all totally
  • 11:11 | compatible however the new HP series
  • 11:13 | lenses for the hero 13 do not work on
  • 11:16 | the hero 12 and prior there’s like a
  • 11:18 | little bit of metal there on the lens
  • 11:20 | attachment point that blocks it from
  • 11:22 | rotating in like you think you’re going
  • 11:23 | to get there and then you’re like oh it
  • 11:24 | doesn’t doesn’t work now speaking about
  • 11:27 | compatibility there’s some expansions
  • 11:28 | there not
  • 11:29 | this camera is compatible with this
  • 11:31 | microphone here the DJI mic 2 uh so
  • 11:35 | GoPro has basically expanded out some of
  • 11:36 | their Bluetooth spec compatibility to
  • 11:38 | make it so it now pairs with the mic 2
  • 11:40 | in Bluetooth mode allowing me to go
  • 11:42 | ahead and have direct from the DJI Mike
  • 11:44 | 2 into the camera which is how I use it
  • 11:46 | I use it with the lav right there so you
  • 11:48 | can just sounds a little bit better but
  • 11:50 | uh otherwise it’s basically good to go
  • 11:51 | across the board in fact you can even
  • 11:53 | see the mic volume on the screen just
  • 11:54 | like you would have with the media mod
  • 11:56 | now here’s a great example of the DJI
  • 11:57 | mic connected to the GoPro Hero 13 black
  • 12:00 | using Bluetooth I’m out on the fery
  • 12:02 | booat deck the wind is kind of moving
  • 12:03 | past me pretty quickly right now and I
  • 12:05 | have a lab mic on connected to the DJI
  • 12:07 | mic like I always do for all of my stuff
  • 12:09 | and it sounds probably really really
  • 12:10 | good to you despite the fact that I’m
  • 12:12 | like 10 ft away from the camera right
  • 12:14 | now so there’s no way you’d be able to
  • 12:15 | hear me otherwise just to demonstrate
  • 12:17 | that I’m going to turn off the mic and
  • 12:19 | now I’m thinking of the exact same I’m
  • 12:21 | the microphone off you can see there’s
  • 12:22 | nothing on right now you can hear what
  • 12:23 | it sounds like this far away now the
  • 12:25 | next new item is if you look at the
  • 12:26 | front of the camera you’re going to
  • 12:27 | notice this little kind of great there
  • 12:29 | that is a new heat sink to go ahead and
  • 12:31 | reduce overheating potential uh in fact
  • 12:34 | GoPro this year around actually has an
  • 12:35 | entire chart they included the Media Kit
  • 12:37 | you can see it right here that shows you
  • 12:39 | the differences from an overheating
  • 12:40 | standpoint for those not familiar with
  • 12:42 | the entire overheating debacle it’s like
  • 12:45 | YouTuber like catnip um there is nothing
  • 12:47 | that YouTubers in the action camera
  • 12:49 | space love more than to put like a
  • 12:50 | YouTube face on and be concerned about
  • 12:53 | overheating on an action camera and the
  • 12:55 | reality is that every action camera
  • 12:57 | today in the last few years as long as
  • 12:58 | you air flow in other words air moving
  • 13:00 | over the camera it’s not going to
  • 13:02 | overheat in virtually any mode like all
  • 13:04 | of them are really good even to like 100
  • 13:06 | plus degrees fahren it’s great where
  • 13:08 | it’s problematic though is so-called low
  • 13:10 | air flow or no air flow scenarios those
  • 13:13 | are things like mounting inside a car
  • 13:14 | dashboard uh filming a basketball game
  • 13:17 | outside in the heat in the sun um
  • 13:19 | putting it on a boat where there’s no
  • 13:20 | wind whatsoever and you’re filming
  • 13:22 | yourself for hours that is the problem
  • 13:24 | for most action cameras and so I’ve been
  • 13:26 | testing gopro’s claims in this area and
  • 13:28 | I’ll be honest
  • 13:29 | I’m impressed GoPro has won every single
  • 13:32 | overheating test I’ve done on the hero
  • 13:34 | 13 black with equivalent settings on
  • 13:36 | both beating DJI and beating in 360
  • 13:39 | before it overheats and the cool part is
  • 13:41 | that all these cameras now will tell you
  • 13:43 | when it overheats in the case of both
  • 13:45 | GoPro as well as inst 360 when it
  • 13:47 | overheats it’ll tell you right then and
  • 13:49 | there and it’ll also tell you after you
  • 13:50 | turn the camer rack on again in case you
  • 13:52 | missed it the first time around either
  • 13:53 | way the numbers are looking really good
  • 13:54 | at this point in time by far the best
  • 13:56 | I’ve ever seen from GoPro compared to
  • 13:58 | any other past action cameras however
  • 14:00 | the thing that’s not looking super great
  • 14:02 | is this stat right here showing how many
  • 14:04 | of you are actually subscribed to the
  • 14:06 | channel it’s a kind of a low number like
  • 14:08 | it’s not a great number the grand scheme
  • 14:09 | of things if you were to hit subscribe
  • 14:11 | it’d be awesome or just honestly watch
  • 14:13 | the video to the end that’s a Thing
  • 14:14 | YouTube cares about the most the other
  • 14:16 | thing people are probably going to care
  • 14:17 | about is the new Enduro battery with the
  • 14:19 | GoPro so for the first time in a number
  • 14:21 | of years GoPro has changed the battery
  • 14:23 | on the hero 13 black it’s no longer
  • 14:25 | compatible with previous batteries it is
  • 14:27 | now a bigger battery which has longer
  • 14:29 | runtimes it’s frankly as simple as that
  • 14:31 | here’s the chart comparing the run times
  • 14:33 | side by side to the past and I’m seeing
  • 14:35 | those results in my testing as well like
  • 14:37 | I’ve kind of handpicked a few different
  • 14:38 | ones just to to test out again with air
  • 14:40 | flow in these cases cuz those are air
  • 14:42 | flow uh battery tests versus the
  • 14:43 | previous ones are no air flow uh and
  • 14:45 | yeah they’re they’re holding water there
  • 14:47 | in fact that gets the next item which is
  • 14:48 | that the battery now charges roughly
  • 14:50 | twice as fast as the past which is good
  • 14:53 | but remember earlier on I said there was
  • 14:55 | some sucky things about the GoPro this
  • 14:56 | is still one of them twice as fast as
  • 14:58 | the past is still twice as slow as dji’s
  • 15:01 | battery here’s a chart I made where I
  • 15:03 | plotted the battery percentage over the
  • 15:05 | course of the charge time uh for the
  • 15:07 | GoPro in the case of the DJI action 4 it
  • 15:10 | charges its battery to 80% in 20 minutes
  • 15:14 | after 20 minutes the GoPro is barely at
  • 15:16 | 40% with its fast charger or even less
  • 15:18 | than that 30% without its fast charger
  • 15:21 | that said one thing to keep in mind
  • 15:22 | about the battery difference between
  • 15:24 | GoPro and DJI in particular is around
  • 15:27 | performance at colder temperatures
  • 15:29 | that’s an area where if you were to take
  • 15:30 | both a GoPro and a DJI action 4 and
  • 15:32 | stick them in a freezer for a couple
  • 15:33 | hours just like pretending you were
  • 15:35 | outside skiing with on your helmet for a
  • 15:36 | couple hours and then to press the start
  • 15:38 | button the action FL from DJI won’t
  • 15:41 | start it just simply won’t the GoPro
  • 15:43 | will start that’s different battery
  • 15:44 | design in there which may make up some
  • 15:46 | of those differences nonetheless GoPro
  • 15:49 | please just make the battery charge
  • 15:50 | faster next up for those photo Geeks
  • 15:52 | they’ve added hlg HDR video 10bit
  • 15:54 | recording in RC 2100 color space with a
  • 15:57 | wide colored gamut uh this is something
  • 15:59 | that again they’re really targeting kind
  • 16:00 | of more of the Cinematic Hollywood side
  • 16:02 | of it where they’re going to use GoPros
  • 16:03 | here and there which of course many TV
  • 16:05 | and hallway Productions use GoPros and
  • 16:07 | all sorts of scenarios and this just
  • 16:09 | gives them a little bit more flexibility
  • 16:10 | if you have no idea what I’m talking
  • 16:12 | about don’t worry about it it’s just
  • 16:13 | something you can turn on the settings
  • 16:14 | there quick and easy now we got a few
  • 16:16 | last quickies here but they’re not bad
  • 16:18 | ones they’re just little things that
  • 16:19 | people really wanted you can now
  • 16:20 | customize the names of your presets you
  • 16:22 | could customize them of the past but you
  • 16:24 | couldn’t actually change the name to be
  • 16:25 | whatever you want next up there’s a
  • 16:26 | handy little change to how quick capture
  • 16:28 | works quick shapur is when you have the
  • 16:30 | camera off like this I press the button
  • 16:32 | once a couple seconds later it turns on
  • 16:34 | the camera there you go and immediately
  • 16:35 | starts recording now if I were hit the
  • 16:37 | stop button in the past it would shut
  • 16:39 | off but now I have two options I can
  • 16:40 | press record one more time it’s going to
  • 16:42 | immediately start a brand new recording
  • 16:43 | you’re like oh you know what I actually
  • 16:44 | want that to record after all you can do
  • 16:46 | that I hit stop again this time I say
  • 16:49 | you know what I don’t want it to turn
  • 16:50 | off I just want it to go into a low
  • 16:51 | power State hit the side mode button and
  • 16:53 | you’re done next GoPro says they sped up
  • 16:55 | the Wi-Fi transfer speeds by 40% by
  • 16:57 | going to Wi-Fi 6 yeah it seems faster I
  • 17:00 | guess um they also increased the weight
  • 17:02 | slightly though of the camera from 154 G
  • 17:05 | to 159 G you don’t notice that frankly
  • 17:08 | at all uh and then last but not least
  • 17:10 | they made it crash lest no literally
  • 17:12 | that’s literally what they talked about
  • 17:13 | in the media presentation they gave
  • 17:15 | three numbers that were kind of
  • 17:16 | interesting starting with the hero 12 so
  • 17:18 | in the hero 12 GoPro never talked about
  • 17:20 | this but in the hero 12 they basically
  • 17:22 | refactor the entire C base from the
  • 17:24 | ground up was their exact wording and
  • 17:26 | with that they saw a reduction in
  • 17:29 | tickets around crashes by 99% from the
  • 17:32 | hero 12 compared to the previous cameras
  • 17:34 | and they saw a 60% reduction in thermal
  • 17:37 | shutdowns and a 67% reduction in camera
  • 17:40 | freeze ups so camera free UPS can be
  • 17:42 | lots of different things can often be
  • 17:43 | the SD card but it can be a gazillion
  • 17:45 | other things so GoPro mentioned that
  • 17:47 | because there’s been a year now since
  • 17:48 | the hero 12 came out and they thought
  • 17:49 | that was a good time to like the proof
  • 17:51 | is in the pudding sort of thing because
  • 17:52 | obviously plenty of people have
  • 17:54 | complained about GoPro crashes and all
  • 17:55 | sorts different scenarios and this was
  • 17:57 | their proof of that put and they said in
  • 17:59 | the hero 13 they step it even down even
  • 18:01 | further to try to reduce those last
  • 18:03 | remaining chunks again the proof will be
  • 18:05 | in a pudding a year from now or
  • 18:06 | something like that okay so there you go
  • 18:08 | your entire look at all the new features
  • 18:10 | on this camera where they work well and
  • 18:11 | where they don’t I’ve got a complete
  • 18:13 | beginners guide coming up over the next
  • 18:14 | couple days That’ll Walk Through how to
  • 18:16 | use this camera from start to finish so
  • 18:18 | if you’re new to a GoPro or if you’re
  • 18:20 | just a long-term GoPro user I’m going to
  • 18:22 | talk about all the cool little features
  • 18:23 | and how they actually work in real life
  • 18:25 | in a much much longer video so again hit
  • 18:27 | subscribe so you see that as soon as it
  • 18:29 | drops with that have a good one
