  • 0:00 | the first dash cam of its kind it’s
  • 0:02 | called the X5 a three Channel card DVR
  • 0:06 | with touchscreen a budge of great
  • 0:08 | features and very reasonable price from
  • 0:10 | a new company called wolfbox hyped
  • 0:13 | already so let’s
  • 0:15 | [Music]
  • 0:19 | expect just notice this design language
  • 0:23 | uh definitely looks intriguing and some
  • 0:25 | muchat reminds me of some of Van true
  • 0:28 | models but this is a totally different
  • 0:30 | brand a new one uh it’s called wolfbox
  • 0:34 | and they already have one dash camera
  • 0:36 | model this gu this rear view mirror uh
  • 0:39 | seems to be quite a successful one and
  • 0:41 | this seems to be their first entirely
  • 0:44 | Standalone Cur VR uh 4K video resolution
  • 0:48 | for the front unit three Channel setup
  • 0:51 | and a lot of promising specifications
  • 0:53 | and my task here is to explore
  • 0:56 | everything that you need to know in
  • 0:57 | advance whether you’re about to buy it
  • 0:59 | or just want to be in the loop about the
  • 1:01 | latest kind of Technologies I’ll be
  • 1:03 | performing my usual kind of testing a
  • 1:05 | lot of examples row footage side by-side
  • 1:07 | comparisons has mentioned everything you
  • 1:10 | need to know about the wolfbox X5 let’s
  • 1:13 | begin daytime samples they’re actually
  • 1:16 | interesting the front module supports 4K
  • 1:19 | it is equipped with the famous Sony
  • 1:21 | starv generation 2 with the IMX 678
  • 1:25 | image sensor probably the best that
  • 1:27 | currently a dash cam can be equipped
  • 1:29 | with if you if you enjoy a lot what you
  • 1:31 | see it is perhaps thanks to the super
  • 1:33 | Vivid colors and the extra sharpening
  • 1:36 | that wolf box apply to the footage this
  • 1:39 | usually helps people to identify more
  • 1:41 | details but I’m sure that might not be a
  • 1:44 | desired setting for everyone who sees
  • 1:47 | dash cams as an opportunity to make some
  • 1:49 | travel Vlogs the dynamic range is
  • 1:52 | excellent in most cases and you can
  • 1:53 | notice how some of the details are well
  • 1:55 | visible at the end of the tunnel
  • 1:57 | something that would be visualized by
  • 2:00 | other dash cameras just as a wi spot on
  • 2:02 | a cloudy day you may see some artifacts
  • 2:05 | but all in all it’s Stellar performance
  • 2:07 | th far the lens quality also seems to be
  • 2:10 | good because Reflections from the Sun
  • 2:12 | are barely notable in my case of course
  • 2:14 | this is often impacted by the angle of
  • 2:16 | installation and other factors the rear
  • 2:19 | camera is hats down among the best I’ve
  • 2:22 | seen for a rear camera excellent balance
  • 2:25 | between resolution and quality the
  • 2:27 | interior camera is also on the good side
  • 2:31 | next let’s review some low light footage
  • 2:33 | examples it’s far more interesting to
  • 2:35 | analyze look at that the lights the
  • 2:38 | Synergy between bright and dark areas on
  • 2:40 | the screen pretty sure it’s the kind of
  • 2:42 | evidence most of you want to watch this
  • 2:44 | video about because if a dash camera
  • 2:47 | would struggle it will definitely be
  • 2:49 | while it’s night or really dark here we
  • 2:52 | have a few contributing factors a very
  • 2:55 | wide open Optics with aperture being F
  • 2:57 | by 1.7 it means that X 5’s front module
  • 3:00 | belongs to the brightest out there don’t
  • 3:03 | forget that the Sony starvis 2 image
  • 3:05 | sensor inside is famous for namely
  • 3:08 | exceptional low light performance and
  • 3:10 | last but not least wol box advertise the
  • 3:14 | 3dnr technology used it is a way to
  • 3:16 | digitally reduce the noise and increase
  • 3:19 | the clarity for low light footage the
  • 3:21 | other two camera modules are doing
  • 3:23 | pretty good too the rear one is easily
  • 3:25 | affected by other cars headlights this
  • 3:27 | is of no surprise but it contains a good
  • 3:30 | amount of details and is a pleasant
  • 3:32 | surprise the interior module is equipped
  • 3:35 | with infrared LEDs which is typical
  • 3:38 | approach by most vendors and still at
  • 3:40 | dark it remains effective so definitely
  • 3:43 | a strong start but we’re here for the
  • 3:46 | whole picture therefore let’s get to see
  • 3:49 | the details about the design and the
  • 3:50 | build quality as the next thing this is
  • 3:52 | the retail box a nice pack indeed some
  • 3:55 | good information to begin with some
  • 3:57 | weird slogans as well the main module
  • 4:01 | rather big a bit bigger than a GoPro it
  • 4:04 | hosts the front camera as well as the
  • 4:06 | interior module here’s the slot for the
  • 4:09 | micro SD card comes with a cover the
  • 4:11 | melting mechanism allows you to adjust
  • 4:13 | the angle and there are some further
  • 4:15 | refinements possible using the lens
  • 4:18 | which is also good implementation for
  • 4:20 | the tuning the other half of the pack
  • 4:23 | has the power adapter which gives you an
  • 4:25 | extra USB port for charging extra
  • 4:27 | peripherals the big in quite quite thick
  • 4:30 | cable for the rear module some mounting
  • 4:32 | accessories and spare adhesives a nice
  • 4:35 | bonus is that besides having a quick
  • 4:37 | release option the mound also has such
  • 4:40 | and with a spare plate you can easily
  • 4:42 | keep another vehicle operation ready and
  • 4:44 | simply swap the dash cameras in between
  • 4:46 | when necessary if you are a tech
  • 4:49 | Enthusiast then definitely the list with
  • 4:51 | the specs will sound intriguing besides
  • 4:54 | the Sony staris 2 image sensor mentioned
  • 4:56 | there’s the powerful system onor chip by
  • 4:58 | novatech there’s right lens deployed for
  • 5:00 | the front module supported our micro SD
  • 5:03 | cards with storage up to 512 gigs there
  • 5:06 | is GPS in the power mount a dual bound
  • 5:08 | Wi-Fi to the 35in display super
  • 5:11 | capacitor so that there’s no need for
  • 5:13 | battery and a convenient to use
  • 5:15 | smartphone app the specs are definitely
  • 5:18 | on the good side and the fact that we
  • 5:21 | are aware of the exact models of the
  • 5:22 | system aor chip and the image sensor
  • 5:25 | helps us to determine that the
  • 5:26 | advertised 4K out of the front unit is
  • 5:29 | real and really important if there’s
  • 5:31 | something like a checklist about making
  • 5:33 | a great dash camera in 2024 seems like
  • 5:36 | wolf box are ticking or covering most of
  • 5:39 | these aspects even further because the
  • 5:42 | field of view is a bit wider than what
  • 5:45 | most competitors would provide at 150°
  • 5:47 | that’s really Ultra wide and you can see
  • 5:51 | from the footage that distortions are
  • 5:53 | not too annoying even at the edges of
  • 5:56 | the screen so th far I’m pretty happy
  • 5:59 | happy with what I see but let us find
  • 6:02 | out whether there’s going to be
  • 6:03 | something sketchy with the installation
  • 6:04 | or the configuration or any of the
  • 6:06 | remaining tests the installation could
  • 6:09 | have been easier the front module is
  • 6:12 | fine in fact just pick a good area on
  • 6:15 | the windshield Within Reach of the
  • 6:16 | wipers and not obstructing your line of
  • 6:18 | sight use one of the screen folios and
  • 6:21 | all good it’s really convenient to be
  • 6:24 | able to adjust the angle and I remind
  • 6:26 | you that the area of the lens also lets
  • 6:29 | you do some further Corrections of
  • 6:31 | course connecting the power requires
  • 6:33 | creativity about finding an optimal
  • 6:35 | hidden path to the car cigar lighter
  • 6:37 | port and everything looks nice and easy
  • 6:40 | up until you have to deal with the rear
  • 6:42 | module it’s Cable in particular it is
  • 6:46 | way too thick and could be that you
  • 6:48 | struggle with installation in some of
  • 6:49 | the areas I succeeded in my case a p car
  • 6:54 | but it was on the limit there should be
  • 6:56 | some good thinner options for sure if
  • 6:59 | there’s a requirement to use parking
  • 7:01 | mode then it is a possibility however a
  • 7:04 | hardwire kit is going to be necessary
  • 7:06 | it’s an optional product and since I
  • 7:08 | didn’t get one couldn’t try the feature
  • 7:10 | out but from what I see in the
  • 7:12 | configuration a motion detection feature
  • 7:14 | is actually missing leaving the time
  • 7:16 | lapse your best option to avoid missing
  • 7:19 | any accidents because with Collision
  • 7:21 | detection it’s usually too late whenever
  • 7:24 | the camera starts recording speaking of
  • 7:26 | configuration options I loved the
  • 7:28 | controls a touch screen which is really
  • 7:30 | nice for initial configuration but in
  • 7:32 | most of the cases you’re going to find
  • 7:34 | the good old hardware buttons a lot more
  • 7:37 | useful for navigating through the menus
  • 7:40 | options are really a lot there are a few
  • 7:42 | video resolution choices it makes sense
  • 7:45 | to adjust only if you plan to not use
  • 7:47 | the rear module novatech s so’s are
  • 7:50 | famous for being generous about config
  • 7:52 | no different with the implementation on
  • 7:53 | the X5 if you wonder whether the GPS is
  • 7:56 | working just navigate here and get to
  • 7:59 | see everything don’t forget that during
  • 8:01 | the whole time touch operations are also
  • 8:04 | supported with this dash camera as well
  • 8:07 | if you feel that a smartphone app would
  • 8:09 | be easier well it’s a generic one has
  • 8:12 | good features but not on par with the
  • 8:15 | user experience that Garmin or black
  • 8:17 | view would offer dualband Wi-Fi hotspot
  • 8:20 | is present which makes transferring
  • 8:22 | files wirelessly really fast it’s good
  • 8:25 | to mention that there also is a desktop
  • 8:27 | software letting you review the files
  • 8:29 | and also the included metadata in these
  • 8:32 | viewing the footage on a big screen
  • 8:34 | makes good sense especially about 4K
  • 8:37 | footage sure these intensive bit rates
  • 8:39 | are rather demanding about storage
  • 8:42 | because you can’t use just any type of
  • 8:44 | Micro SD card it’s necessary to have u3
  • 8:46 | compliance in order to avoid
  • 8:48 | complications audio test of the X5 and
  • 8:51 | this is how the microphone performs
  • 8:53 | speed is about close to 80 km/ hour
  • 8:58 | that’s the quality of the microphone and
  • 9:00 | if you wonder why my face is in the
  • 9:02 | darker part of the footage uh and and
  • 9:05 | here we have this light spotted just
  • 9:08 | because of the angle of the sunshine
  • 9:10 | right
  • 9:12 | now and before the wrap up let’s fill in
  • 9:16 | the traditional list with the drawbacks
  • 9:18 | as a starter I’m not happy with the
  • 9:20 | thickness of the USB cable also the
  • 9:22 | quality of the smartphone app and the
  • 9:25 | fact that the parking mode doesn’t
  • 9:27 | support motion detection there’s no
  • 9:29 | addas support
  • 9:31 | either still nothing that is a true deal
  • 9:34 | breaker quite the opposite I’m really
  • 9:36 | happy with the overall performance of X5
  • 9:40 | by wolfbox uh there are two topics I
  • 9:43 | can’t really discuss at the moment uh
  • 9:45 | the first one being the longevity of the
  • 9:47 | product cuz it’s too early to say
  • 9:49 | apparently maybe you can check the
  • 9:50 | comments below the video to get to know
  • 9:53 | more in case somebody has shared but
  • 9:55 | based on the experience with their first
  • 9:57 | model the first dash camera disg as a
  • 9:59 | rear view mirror we have really high
  • 10:02 | expectations as for the temperature
  • 10:05 | handling it’s utn already so
  • 10:08 | temperatures are a bit lower than what
  • 10:10 | it used to be in the summer I can’t
  • 10:12 | quite say how it performs when it’s
  • 10:14 | extremely hot but given the fact there’s
  • 10:16 | no inbuilt battery and there’s a super
  • 10:18 | capacitor instead I would say the X5 is
  • 10:21 | safe to use in areas with really
  • 10:23 | extremely warm or hot climate conditions
  • 10:27 | that’s everything about this episode
  • 10:29 | thank you for very much for watching it
  • 10:30 | if you’re curious to see what others
  • 10:32 | have to say in regard to the X5 check
  • 10:35 | the comment section below the video and
  • 10:36 | of course if you have something to
  • 10:37 | contribute with you are totally invited
  • 10:40 | to join in I think the X5 by wolf box is
  • 10:44 | a very good start and something you can
  • 10:47 | easily trust especially this price point
  • 10:49 | and seems to be a very good bank for the
  • 10:51 | buck well prove me right or wrong you
  • 10:54 | know comments down below thanks a lot
  • 10:56 | for watching this episode if you enjoyed
